Filip, my host, made me know a lot about Zagreb student's life. NUMBERS.

He's a very active member of the student association of scientific departement : CUMEZ. At the opposite of some student association that I knew, they do really more than install a room in the university that they use as a sqwat. A lot of conferences are organized each year, about a lot of diferent subject you can imagine: physics, ecology, phylosophy, archeology... All kind of diferent sciences. Those events are organized in a real willing of interdisciplinary exchange, that would lead scientist to contribute to the work done in other areas, and enrich their own scientific production.
 The cultural life is also very lively: video projections are made evry week, focusing on varied styles of cinema. Many concerts are organized throughout the year, and at the end of the year a big festival is organized, trying to invit quite famous music bands (which is more and more difficult because of the prices demanded by the bands, and the lack of sponsors : this event was one of the biggest of Zagreb 5 years ago, then the development of other big events and the economic deterioration didn't help...).
 They also establish contact networks between companies and the students (that is probably the main problems of a student at the cursus), publishing professional annouces, among other things.

    







 He also told me about a student movement that happened last year, mostly in Zagreb.
The students started to protest to claim  free education and express their anger against repercussions of Bologna process.  In order to do this, they created the "official independant student initiative".
Some sections of students blocked their departements, stpping the lessons for about one month. I have to say that I was impressed by the consciousness of this movement, in which student involved themselves a lot to make it credible and legitimate. Some of them settled in the buildings, instoring very strict rules: no smoking inside, no alcohol, no promotion of political party.
They also created a newspaper very complet, with everything related with this initiative, answering to any potential question that journalist any person could have, and delivering it as much as possible.























As a result of this action so well organized, everybody was supporting them, thanks to the  MEDIAS intervention! Even if there was almost no official conseques, but strangely, the Minister of education resigned few time after!
